Obituary

John W. Neubauer, 84, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1952 and formerly of the Bronx, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 26, 2011.
Born in the Bronx on September 14, 1926, he was the son of Joseph Steven and Catherine Dunn Neubauer. He was a graduate of Mohawk College and proudly served our country aboard the USS Perkins in the US Navy during World War II. John was employed as a carpenter for Perrino Construction in Mount Kisco until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed sailing, kayaking, boating, bicycling and fishing and volunteered on the Sloop Clearwater. He was a competitive sailor on Long Island Sound with the Hoffman Brothers and a featherweight Golden Glove Fighter.
On September 26, 1951 at St. Benedict’s Church in the Bronx, John married June Stillwell who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, John D. Neubauer and his wife Betsy of Hopewell Junction and Midge Cangelosi and her husband Michael of Raleigh, NC; his grandchildren, James and Michael Cangelosi, Kate Neubauer and Mary Teicher; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery with military honors.
