John M. O'Donnell, 80, a lifelong area resident, died on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Poughkeepsie on May 13, 1934, he was the son of John J. and Mary McVeigh O'Donnell. John proudly served our country in the US Navy and was employed as a manager at IBM, East Fishkill for 34 years. He was a parishioner of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction, a life member of the Mid County Rod & Gun Club, and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club.
On September 12, 1970 at St. Columba Church, John married Kathleen O'Donnell who predeceased him on September 17, 1989. He is survived by his children, Douglas Alexander of LaGrangeville, Maureen Johnston of Spring Hill, FL and John O'Donnell Jr. and his wife Anne of Poughkeepsie; his sister, Katherine O'Donnell of New York City; and his grandchildren, Michelle Delforno, Jennifer Alexander, Tyler O'Donnell and Ian O'Donnell.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12:30pm at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
