It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, John P. Orsley, on Tuesday May 6th, 2025. He was 82.

John was born in Binghamton, New York on December 7th, 1942. He was the son of the late George and Mary Orsley and had three older siblings Patrice, James, and Jerome. After growing up in upstate New York, the family eventually moved to San Jose, California.

John was a veteran of the US Air Force serving in Vietnam for over three years where he was an Airman First Class. After coming home from the military, John went to San Jose State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing, and also met his future wife of 48 years, Jary Gartin, now deceased.

John and Jary were married on June 21st, 1969, and had their sons Michael in May of 1972, and Mark in July of 1975. The family moved to Wappingers Falls, New York later in 1975.

John spent most of his distinguished career at IBM, which is what brought the family to New York. He spent over 25 years at IBM in the Import/Export division and traveled to all parts of the world.

John enjoyed spending time with his family, driving his '69 Dodge Dart, baking, golfing, bowling, and listening to jazz music.

What really defines John's life was being a devoted husband, active father, a valuable friend to everyone that was fortunate enough to meet him, and most recently, a beloved "Papa" to his three grandchildren Marissa, Max, and Jack.

John had many wonderful qualities that shaped everyone around him. He was loving, caring, selfless in his giving, and hardworking. He will be truly missed but his legacy will always live on in the qualities he passed on to his family.
