NEWBURGH – John A. Ring, a longtime local area resident, died at home on Wednesday, January 11, 2017.
Son of the late Jeremiah and Elsie (Hill) Ring, he was born in New York City on March 9, 1930. Throughout his youth and into early adulthood, he lived in Queens. Later, he relocated to the Hudson Valley with his family, having resided in Lagrangeville and Newburgh.
For 30 years, John worked in the Communications Department for Union Carbide Corporation at their facilities in New York City and Danbury, CT. He was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill, where he assisted with the church's RCIA program for many years.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathleen Dorney & her husband Mark of Poughkeepsie; his son, Timothy Ring & his wife Laura of Florham Park, NJ; his grandchildren, Emily, Caroline, Timothy, and Jack; his former wife, Jean Ring of Poughkeepsie; his nephews, Robert, Gerry and Paul; his nieces, Mary and Pat; and many other relatives & friends. He was predeceased by his parents as well as his brother, Jim Ring.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 13th at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 14th at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Burial will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
