John Rodriguez

John Rodriguez, a Dutchess County resident since 1991, passed away unexpectedly in Poughkeepsie, NY on Thursday, July 2, 2026. He was 48.

He was born on March 14, 1978, and was raised in Sleepy Hollow, NY. John graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in Wappingers Falls, NY in 1996. For many years, he worked as a chef for the Ramada Inn in Fishkill, NY. In addition, he was a skilled painter in many home renovation projects throughout Dutchess County.

His hobbies included boxing, baseball, swimming, reading, and fishing. He also enjoyed taking long scenic walks and going to the movies. John was also known to enjoy a great barbecue from time to time.

More than anything else, however, John truly cherished being a father to his beloved sons, Javier Jay Rodriguez and Jovani John Rodriguez, both of Hyde Park, NY.

In addition to his sons, other survivors include his mother, Yolanda Campa of Poughkeepsie, NY; his father, Jose Juan Rodriguez of Puerto Rico; his sister, Anell Smith & her husband Michael Smith of Wappingers Falls, NY; his nephew, Justin Smith of Wappingers Falls, NY; his former wife and the mother of his sons, Loretta Kelly Rodriguez of Hyde Park, NY; as well as several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

John was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Rosa Campa, Alberto Campa, Nicholas Rodriguez, and Rosa Rivera Rodriguez. Most recently, by his beloved aunt Nereida Mendez.

Calling hours will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY.
