John Smith's Obituary
John Edward Smith, a Beacon resident, died at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh on Monday, December 17, 2012. He was 71.
Born in Manhattan on April 21, 1941, he was the son of the late John J. and Gertrude Edwyna Smith. In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1964.
He worked many years as a bank auditor and later as an electronic service technician and customer engineer for Cummins Electronics.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 24 at LaGrange Rural Cemetery, Overlook Road, Poughkeepsie. The U.S. Army will conduct Military Honors.
