John Kevin Sullivan, 53, a resident of the Capital District since 1994, died on September 12, 2011 following a long illness. He was employed as an Instructor for the Job Corps System in Oneonta and Glenmont and was a DJ at WCDB, University of Albany. He believed that it was important to be involved in the lives of people less fortunate and volunteered his time as a tutor and mentor. In 2004, he started the GED Program at the Alpha Pregnancy Center. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Linda (Kurtz); mother Anne VanGorder and her husband Richard; sisters, Patricia (John) Canizzo, Eileen (Michael) Byrne, Colleen (Timothy) Dodman; nieces and nephews, Christopher, Matthew, Brianna, Caitlin, Sarah, Jack, Megan and Kerry; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father John L. Sullivan and his sister Kathleen Sullivan. Calling hours Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc.,895 Route 82, Hopewell Jct.
