John Swarner's Obituary
WAPPINGERS FALLS – John L. Swarner, 91, an area resident since 2012 and formerly of Cortlandt Manor, died on January 27, 2023 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn on May 24, 1931, he was the son of Ross and Lillian (Marr) Swarner. John proudly served our country in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He had been employed as a lead mechanic for United Airlines for 37 years until his retirement in 1994.
John had been a parishioner of St. Christopher's Church in Cortlandt Manor. He enjoyed traveling, aviation and trains.
On February 4, 1956 in Peekskill, John married Myrtle Scott who predeceased him on June 3, 2016. He was also predeceased by his daughter Michele Kinsell on January 1, 2015.
John is survived by his daughter, Lisha Coster and her husband Victor; his son, John Swarner and his wife Josephine; his grandchildren, Victor Coster, Zachary Coster, Christina Cortes and Jonathan Kinsell; and several great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 10am at Hillside Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor with military Honors.
