STORMVILLE – John Thomas Toal, 63, a resident of Lake Luzurne, NY, passed away on October 11, 2022.

Born on September 8, 1959 in New Hyde Park, NY, he was the son of the late John and Dolores (Gilmartin) Toal. He was raised in Kew Gardens, Queens. John proudly served in the US Navy, and was a member of the American Legion. He had been employed as a correctional officer since 2011 for the New York State Department of Corrections, working at Greenhaven Correctional Facility in Stormville since 2007. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his sons and their wives, John and Stacy Toal of Union Beach, NJ and Michael and Laurient Toal of Hazlet, NJ; his grandchildren, Jordan, Geno, Joziah, and Aryela Toal; his siblings and their spouses, Dr. Thomas and Jennie Toal of Ithaca, NY and Dianne (Toal) and Gerry Buchman of Pawling, NY; and his former wife, Lisa Briguglio and her husband Greg of Matawan, NJ.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY from 2 – 6 pm. The US Naval Honor Guard will present military honors at 6pm.
