WAPPINGERS FALLS - John Joseph Vitolo, 40, a lifelong area resident, died unexpectedly on June 9, 2026 at MidHudson Regional Hospital.
John was born on June 30, 1985 in Brooklyn. An avid outdoorsman and loose spirit, he enjoyed nature and bike riding. Gifted with a knack for mechanics, he enjoyed taking things apart and rebuilding them.
John is survived by his mother, Catherine Vitolo of Wappingers Falls; his sisters, Michelle Vitolo Scheidt and her husband Willliam Scheidt of Town of Poughkeepsie and Tabatha Vitolo of Wappingers Falls; his brother, Henry Link of Queens; his niece, Brianna Scheidt; and his nephew, Jayden Scheidt. John was predeceased by his father, Joseph Vitolo in 2012.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 14th from 2 - 5 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial is being offered on Monday, June 15th at 10 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Private burial will take place at St. Denis Cemetery.
