Obituary

Jon David Evans, a Dutchess County resident since 2004, died on July 20, 2015 in Hyde Park. He was 52.
Born on May 29, 1963, he was born in Neptune, NJ & raised in Bradley Beach, NJ. Jon graduated with the highest honors for best industrial student from Henry T. Becton Regional High School in E. Rutherford, NJ, where he won best shop project. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he reached the rank of Crew Chief, stationed at 22nd TASS Wheeler AFB Hickam, HI.
Jon was a very talented craftsman and excelled in architectural woodworking. He owned and operated Cutting Edge Woodworks and Jon Evans Custom Woodworks. He also worked for Allied Barton Security Services, stationed at the Eastern Dutchess Government Center. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and NY Jets fan.
Jon is survived by his wife, Anna J. Matula-Evans; his young daughters, Sophia Rachel Evans (13) and Olivia Meredith Evans (9); his father, John "Jack" Evans of NJ; his sister, Debra of NJ; his nephew, Brent; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives & friends. Jon was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Fronsoe (also of NJ), on July 6, 2011.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, July 27 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main St., Fishkill. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Rd., Poughkeepsie, the parish where Jon's daughters attend grade school. Rev. Msgr. James Sullivan will officiate as Celebrant. Following the Mass, a procession will depart for Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave., Poughkeepsie. A committal service will be held in the cemetery's Community Mausoleum, where Jon's remains will be entombed.
An EDUCATION FUND has been established for Jon's daughters. In lieu of flowers, it would be gratefully appreciated that memorial contributions be made payable to Sophia Evans & Olivia Evans and mailed to P.O. Box 370, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533.
