LAGRANGEVILLE – Jonathan I. Gomes, 36, passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Jonnie was born on January 28, 1987 in Yonkers and lived there until moving to LaGrangeville in 1996. Jonnie enjoyed listening to music, especially soundscapes, jazz, and Christian worship. He loved being outdoors, hearing the sounds of the wind and feeling the sun on his face. More than anything else, he loved his family and looked forward to their touches and familiar voices, and especially being cuddled by them.

Jonnie's unique ability to spread joy will be carried on in everyone who knew him. His teachings to celebrate the simplicities in life will be forever remembered.

Jonnie is survived by his parents, Inacio and Maria (Tavares) Gomes; his sisters, Jessica Gomes and her fiancé Carlos Santos, Jr. and Amanda Gomes; his nephews, Carlos "CT" Santos III and Lucas John Santos; and his grandmother, Maria Tavares. He was also loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and nurses.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
