Joseph Ryan Carregal, 43, a resident of Summerville, SC, and formerly of Columbia and Charleston, SC and East Fishkill, NY, died suddenly on May 11, 2024.

Born in Poughkeepsie on October 12, 1980, he was the son of Joseph and Gail (Williams) Carregal. Joe attended John Jay High School and the Ashworth Career School. He loved growing up in Chase Hills in East Fishkill, NY and mostly, the beauty of Charleston, SC.

Joe was employed by H&J Contracting in Summerville where he started as an equipment operator and was currently the Project Superintendent. He enjoyed all kinds of equipment operation, watching the sunrise in prayer for another day with his heavenly Father, cooking, planting and gardening. He looked forward to fun times on the lake with his family and all family get togethers, especially putting on firework displays with his brother, Jason.

Joseph is survived by his parents, Joseph and Gail of Manning, SC; his sister, Stacey Carregal of Kingston, NY; his brother, Jason Carregal of Battle Creek, MI; his grandmothers, Josephine Williams of Wurtsboro, NY and Dina Carregal of Fort Myers, FL; his Godparents, Alice and Bobby Lindars of Hawley, PA; his aunts and uncles, Marianne Williams of New City, NY, Dawn and Donald Van Houten of Highland Lake, NY, Dianne Lacey of Galveston, TX, Lori and Papo Sanchez of Fort Myers, FL, Robert Carregal of Costa Rica, and Jay and Mary Lynn Carregal of Valley Cottage, NY; and many loving cousins, family members, friends, and his beloved Siamese cat, Sasha. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, James Carregal and James Williams; and his aunt, Patricia Williams.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 21 from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. There will be a service at 5:30pm.

Memorial donations may be made in Joe's name to an animal shelter, homeless shelter or soup kitchen of your choice.
