Obituary

Joseph M. Carvalhido, 80, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ.

Son of the late Joseph F. and Angelina (DiPippa) Carvalhido, he was born on June 11, 1945. Joe was raised in Brooklyn and later relocated to Breezy Point, Queens, where he resided for decades until recently moving to Freehold, NJ. In 1969, he enlisted in the US Army and went on to serve as a Reservist until he was honorably discharged from duty in 1974.

He will be remembered as a compassionate and giving person who always went out of his way to help others. Joe especially cherished his family, who loved him equally in return. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

On February 28, 1976, he married Marie Gallagher in Brooklyn. Marie survives at home in Freehold.

Additional survivors include his sons, Joseph Carvalhido & his wife Brittany of Baton Rouge, LA and John Carvalhido & his wife Marie of Breezy Point; his beloved grandchildren, Dane, Ian, Penelope, and John; and his brother, Michael Carvalhido & his wife Linda. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 3:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, November 3 at Marine Park Funeral Home, Inc., 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30am on Tuesday, November 4 at St. Thomas More Church, 204-25 Rockaway Point Boulevard, Breezy Point, NY. Following Mass, relatives & friends are invited to join the family at the RPBP Catholic Club.
