Joseph H. Cozadd, 82, a resident of Scotia, NY since 2006 and formerly of
Poughquag, NY for 32 years, died peacefully on Monday, November 1, 2010 at his
home, surrounded by family. He was originally from Unionville and Battle Creek,
MI. A loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Joseph demonstrated
his love for family, maintained his zeal for a competitive game of Yahtzee, and
kept his keen sense of humor up to the very end of a year-long battle with
cancer.
Born in Gaines, MI on May 13, 1928, he was the son of William and Edna
Andrews Cozadd. He served as a Chief in the US Navy and was employed as a Staff
Programmer for IBM, East Fishkill, NY for 32 years until his retirement in 1990.
Joseph was a member of the Scotia United Methodist Church and was a long-time
active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in LaGrangeville, NY. He
was also a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed gardening,
traveling and attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
On July 2, 1960 in Comstock, MI, Joseph married Violet M. Belles who
survives at home. He is also survived by his son, Raymond Belles and wife Penny
of Dowling, MI; daughter, Angela Mahoney and husband Michael of Scotia, NY; son,
Joseph Cozadd Jr. and wife Penny of Selma, NC; brother, Rev. Frank Cozadd and
wife Faye of Hale, MI; sister, Esther Brown and husband Rev. Dale Brown of East
Leroy, MI; and grandchildren, Lisa and Steve Wilbur of Battle Creek, MI, Raymond
and Melissa Belles Jr. of Ozark, MO, Gordon Wildrick III and Andrew Wildrick of
Scotia, NY.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McHoul
Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will
be held at 1 p.m. with Rev. Amanda Iahn officiating. Interment will be in the
Beekman Cemetery.
