POUGHKEEPSIE – Joseph DiPalermo, 82, an area resident for 12 years and formerly of Yonkers, died peacefully with his wife by his side on October 1, 2023 at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital.
Born in Corleone, Italy on November 7, 1940, he was the son of Vincenzo and Concetta (Iannazzo) DiPalermo. Joseph was the co-owner of Fuller Fashions in the Bronx. He was a long-time member of the US Corleone Club. An avid hunter, he also enjoyed gardening and watching nature shows. More than anything, he cherished time with his family.
On July 11, 1964 at Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx, Joseph married the love of his life, Pietra Vernagallo, who survives at home. He is also survived by his children and their spouses, Vincenzo and Mary Lou DiPalermo, Concetta and Luigi Lozito, Lina and Robert Powers; his grandchildren, Joseph DiPalermo, Tiffany DiPalermo, Deanna and Edward Foote, Anthony Lozito, Robert Powers and Amanda Powers; his great-granddaughter, Lucianna Foote; his sisters, Rose Muratore and Maria DiPalermo; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Carmine DiPalermo.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment at Ferncliff Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Diabetes Association.
