Obituary

WAPPINGERS FALLS- Joseph Andrew Gatto, a local area resident for many years, passed away on July 14. 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 70.

Son of the late Salvatore & Antinette (Rossetti) Gatto, he was born on October 24, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY. Upon graduating John Adams High School, Joseph attended the Bulova School of Watchmaking in Queens, NY. Joseph had many different jobs, including the watchmaking. His last job was as an inspector and manufacturer with Schaatz Bearing Co., in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Joseph was a gifted drummer, featured in different bands throughout the years. He had an infatuation for learning how to play different types of instruments. This interest stemmed from an overall love for all types of music. Joseph was also a past Vice President for Mended Hearts, a peer-support program for patients who have cardiovascular disease, Chapter 5, located in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Joseph is survived by his partner Cheryl O'Neill and her daughter Ashely of Poughkeepsie, NY; his sister Annette & her husband Joseph Patti; his nephew Joseph Patti, Jr. & wife Elizabeth, Santa Keating & husband Glenn, Nicholas Patti & wife Nicole, and nephew Michael Patti; as well as his 9 great nieces and nephews; Alexander, Alyssa, Anthony, Joseph, Jacob, Rhiannon, Benjamin, Samantha and Allison.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 6 pm on Saturday July 20th at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Roure 82, Hopewell Junction. A Funeral Service will take place at 5:30 pm at the Funeral Home.

Memorial donations may be made to the Mended Hearts Chapter 5, 974 DUTCHESS Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
