FISHKILL – Joseph Guarnieri, Jr., a resident of Fishkill and formerly of the Bronx, died suddenly on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 79.

Son of the late Joseph and Clara (Volpe) Guarnieri, he was born in the Bronx on August 23, 1938. Joseph worked for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation for 35 years until his retirement. He was a lifelong avid New York Yankees fan and also enjoyed fishing. More than anything else, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

On October 6, 1957, he married Antoinette Francescucci in the Bronx. They were married for nearly 61 years. Antoinette survives at home in Fishkill.

Additional survivors include his children: Lorraine Montano of Fishkill, Joseph John Guarnieri of Sarasota, FL, Maria Miano & husband Al of Orangeburg, and Lisa Emanuele & husband James of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren: Marisa and Alexa; two sisters: Lillian Vanacore and Palma Cuilla; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents as well as two sisters: Anna Orrach and Dolores Guarnieri.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 21st at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 22nd at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
