POUGHKEEPSIE – Joseph F. Hattar, 52, an area resident since 1992, died on March 22, 2017 at the Grand at River Valley. He previously lived in Yonkers.

Born in Yonkers on September 1, 1964, he was the son of Rifah Hattar and the late Fahed Ayed Hattar. In addition to his mother, Joseph is survived by his siblings and their spouses, Hilda and Vinny Cozza of Wappingers Falls, Henry and Angelika Hattar of Wappingers Falls, Susan and Nithal Haddad of Hopewell Junction, Dr. Thomas Hattar and Dr. Jeanine Werner of Annapolis, MD, and Michael Hattar and Helen Miello of Shohola, PA; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was also predeceased by William and Hani Hattar.

Joseph enjoyed writing poetry, reading, and going to the movies. He liked going to flea markets, where he collected many antiques, and he LOVED to eat!

Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 10 – 11 am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will follow at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hopewell Cemetery.
