Joseph C. Hollis, Sr., a long-time resident of Poughquag, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie after a brief illness.
Born on January 14, 1930, he was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a retired IBM employee and inventor, a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club and an avid golfer.
Joseph is survived by his long-time companion Lois Verdile of Beacon; his sons, Joseph Hollis Jr. and wife Maria of Saugerties, Mike Hollis Sr. and fiancé Patte Coyne of New Windsor and John Hollis and wife Lori from Florida; his beloved grandchildren, Joseph Hollis III and wife Dawn, Kristine Hollis-Gocmen and husband Steve, Julia Madona (Arizona), Michael Jr. and William Seamus, Gwen and John,
Christopher; and his great-grandson, Austin Carter Hollis.

Calling hours will be on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m.
