Joseph
Kearney
December 25, 1983 – January 12, 2026
Joseph G. Kearney, a lifelong Dutchess County resident of LaGrangeville, NY, sadly passed away on January 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was 42 years old.
Joe was a true Christmas baby, born on December 25, 1983, the cherished son of Sean and Marguerite "Peggy" (Salchert) Kearney.
He attended John Jay High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 2005. Joe was a longtime parishioner of St. Kateri Church in LaGrangeville.
Joe had an unmistakable love for life. He accepted everyone for exactly who they were, and in doing so helped others learn to accept him. His greatest mission in life was simple yet powerful-to teach love and kindness. He adored his family beyond measure, especially his niece and nephew, who brought him endless joy.
Joe had many passions that made him uniquely himself. He loved reflective Mylar balloons and made sure to have one by his side every single day. Music filled his heart, with *NSYNC always holding a special place. He treasured traveling with his family, with favorite trips including the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and the Bahamas, as well as adventures up and down the East Coast. Joe was a devoted fan of the New Orleans Saints, enjoyed a good fire, and never turned down his favorite treat-a good old-fashioned birthday cake.
In addition to his loving parents, Sean and Peggy, Joe is survived by his sister, Laura Kearney; his beloved nephew, Landon Kearney; his brother, Tim Kearney and his wife Amanda; his cherished niece, Emily Kearney; and a future niece or nephew, lovingly known as "Baby Bean," on the way. He is also survived by his faithful four-legged companion, Beau, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Joe's legacy of love, kindness, and acceptance will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15th from 4 - 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction . A Mass of Christian Burial is being offered on Friday, January 16th at 11 am at St. Kateri Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville .
