Obituary

FISHKILL – Joseph Robert Lamoree, a lifelong local area resident, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 17, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was 94.

Son of the late Robert J. and Margaret (Evans) Lamoree, he was born in Beacon, New York on June 7, 1926. After graduating from Beacon High School, Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

For 36 years, he served as an Officer for the NYS Department of Corrections, retiring in 1986. Joseph was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.

On September 14, 1947, he married Audrey Francine Knapp, his high school sweetheart, at St. John The Evangelist Church in Beacon. Joseph and Audrey were married for 67 years before Audrey passed on April 6, 2015.

Joe enjoyed listening to Country Music, watching old movies, NASCAR, Golf and all things New York Yankees or New York Giants. He enjoyed traveling, keeping in touch with friends and family, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Joe is survived by his son Glenn Lamoree and his wife Barbara of Steamboat Springs, CO; his daughter, Janis Kaylor and her husband Michael of Bethel, CT; his son, David Lamoree and his wife Jeannine of Fishkill; his grandchildren, Kerri Poklemba and her husband Jeremy, Kaitlin Karrat and her husband Fred, Kasey Kupchok and her husband Travis, Shannon, Ashley, David Lamoree; and his great-grandchild Madison Poklemba.

In addition to his wife and parents, Joseph was also predeceased by his siblings, Roberta Morgan, Paul A. Lamoree, and Charles Gordon Lamoree.

All services will be private at this time. A celebration of life will be held on a later date. Entombment will be in the Community Mausoleum at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
