POUGHKEEPSIE - Joseph James Meier, 38, a lifelong area resident, died on July 6, 2021 at his home.

Born in Manhattan on January 13, 1983, he was the son of James Meier and the late Lillian Melendez Meier who died in 1984. Joseph graduated from John Jay High School and attended Dutchess Community College. He was employed as an asset protection specialist for the Gap Inc. in Fishkill. An avid reader and video game player, Joseph will always be remembered for his big heart.


Joseph is survived by his parents, James and Analisa Meier; his brother, Evan Meier together with Bailey Gerbracht; his grandparents, Anthony Meier and Maria Proietti; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was also predeceased by his brother, Anthony Rosario; and his grandparents, Emma Therese Meier and Carlo Proietti.


Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Private inurnment will be in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
