FISHKILL - Joseph Carmen Miccio, a lifelong local area resident, died on Monday, August 15, 2016 at The Pines at Poughkeepsie. He was 86.
Son of the late Dominick and Mary (Marinaccio) Miccio, he was born in Beacon on November 23, 1929. In 1951, he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1957.
Joseph's career began at Nabisco in Beacon, and he later went to work for the Local 137 Union of Operating Engineers, where he remained until his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.
On May 28, 1955, he married Elaine Capasso in the Bronx. He was predeceased by his wife on October 23, 2015.
Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph Miccio (Laurie) of Newburgh; his son, Steven Miccio of Beacon; his daughter, Jean Miccio (Patrick) of Fishkill; his son, John Miccio (Leslie) of Fishkill; his grandchildren, Daniel, Emily, Christina, Amy, Isabella, Gabrielle, Stephen, and Jasmine; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 18 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, where the U.S. Army will conduct Military Honors.
