HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Joseph "Spoinky" Palazzo, 79, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1967, formerly of the Bronx, died at home on Thursday, April 21, 2011.

Joseph retired 15 years ago from the State of New York where he worked in the Highway Maintenance Department.

One of Joseph's favorite pastimes was attending the horse races at Saratoga Racetrack.

Born in the Bronx on July 28, 1931, he was the son of the late Dominick and Theresa D'Onofrio Palazzo.

On November 13, 1954, he married Ada "Mary" Piccin at Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx. Mrs. Palazzo survives at home.

He is also survived by his children, Catherine Caul and her husband Christopher of Carmel Valley, CA and Christopher Palazzo and his wife Jackie of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Cara, Michaela, and Christopher Caul, all of Carmel Valley, CA; Jamie Quaranto and her husband Chris of Poughkeepsie, and Brianna Palazzo of Hopewell Junction; and his great-granddaughter, Ava Quaranto of Poughkeepsie. He was predeceased by his brother Salvatore Palazzo in 2005.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will take place immediately following the calling hours. Interment will be on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
