Joseph A. Rutigliano, Sr., a resident of Fishkill since 2013, originally from the Bronx, died at home on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. He was 83.
Son of the late Antonio and Maria (Soranno) Rutigliano, he was born in the Bronx on May 22, 1932. In 1952, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal.
Joe worked for M.A.B.S.T.O.A. (Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority) for nearly 30 years and retired as supervisor in 1987. He was a member of St. Mary, Mother of the Church, in Fishkill, as well as the Marine Corps League, Putnam County Detachment 242, Mahopac.
On November 6, 1955, he married Marie A. Donaghy, at St. Peter & St. Paul Church in the Bronx. They celebrated their 60th Anniversary last month. Mrs. Rutigliano survives him at home in Fishkill.
In addition to his wife, Joe is also survived by two sons, Joseph A. Rutigliano, Jr., & his wife, Diane, of Virginia, and Jim Rutigliano of New York City; his daughter, Trish Roccuzzo of Connecticut; his grandchildren, Ellie Coleman & husband Stephen, Stephen Rutigliano, Paul Rutigliano, Luke Rutigliano, Thomas Rutigliano, and John Roccuzzo; his sisters, Frances Munchak, Jenny Scarborough, Rosemarie Licata, and Tina Russo; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Eileen Marie Rutigliano, in 1964, as well as his other siblings, James Rutigliano, Anna Forenza, Claire Iarossi, Danny Rutigliano, Anthony Rutigliano, Jr., and Laura DiMauro.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 p.m., on Monday, December 21, at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m., on Tuesday, December 22, at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, where the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors.
