Joseph Edward Stabile, Sr., 72, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Monday, June 28, 2010 after a year-long battle with illness.
He was an avid golfer and spent a lot of time at Dogwood Knolls Golf Club with many supportive friends. In 1997, Joseph retired from the Local 19 Carpenters Union after 35 years of dedication.
Born in Brooklyn on February 19, 1938, he was the son of the late Pasquale and Frances Speciale Stabile. He proudly served our country in the US Air Force until being Honorably Discharged in 1961.

On October 27, 1962 Joseph married Mary Ferrari at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie. Mrs. Stabile survives at home in LaGrange. Other survivors include his sons, Joseph Stabile, Jr. & his wife Patricia of Poughquag and Gregory Stabile of LaGrange; daughter, Holly Ciferri & her husband Scott of Poughquag; grandchildren, Joseph, Vincent, Matteo, Deana, Irena, and Cameron; sister, Nancy Serino; sister-in-law Adele Stabile; brother-in-law Robert Rusnack; and also many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
Joseph was predeceased by his sister Marie Rusnack, brother Michael Stabile, brother Peter Stabile and wife Jean and brother-in-law Anthony Serino.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 1 at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 2 at Blessed Kateri Tekawitha R.C. Church, 1925 Route 82, LaGrangeville. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
