Joseph A. Vitolo, 67, a resident of Hillside Lake for 40 years and formerly of the Bronx, died suddenly on Monday, June 11, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in the Bronx on April 17, 1945, he was the son of Dominick and Mary D'Andrea Vitolo. Joseph proudly served our country in the US Army and was employed by the Carpenters Union Local 149/211 in Hawthorne. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. He enjoyed golfing and visits to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. Joe was a daily regular at Dunkin Donuts in Wappingers Falls where he met with his friends and welcomed customers.
On August 28, 1965 at St. Philip Neri Church in the Bronx, Joseph married Catherine Alberto. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michelle Scheidt and her husband William of Poughkeepsie, Danny Vitolo and his wife Tiffany of FL, John Vitolo of Wappingers Falls and Tabatha Vitolo of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Brianna and Jayden Scheidt, Dillon and Jacob Vitolo; his brothers, Ronald Vitolo and his wife Vickie of AZ and Dominick Vitolo and his wife Claire of Rockland County; his sister, Andrea Vitolo Carroll of FL; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 7-9pm and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
