Josephine Aloia, 75, a resident of Poughquag since 2004 and formerly of Arizona, Valhalla, the Bronx and Mount Vernon, died on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Lutheran Care Center.
Born on October 1, 1934 in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Josephine Rapisardi. She was employed as a seamstress for the Helen Whiting Company in Pleasantville and enjoyed sewing, baking and cooking.
On October 4, 1958 in Brooklyn, Josephine married Mario Aloia who survives at home. She is also survived by her children, George Aloia and his wife Maria of Pleasantville, Richard Aloia of South Salem, Joseph Aloia and his wife Michelle of LaGrangeville and Agnes Aloia Vecchione and her husband Robert of Poughquag; her grandchildren, Kristen, Michelle, Elizabeth and Jaclyn Aloia, Ashley, Lauryn and Joseph Aloia, and Marisa and Michael Vecchione; her brothers, Salvatore Rapisardi and his wife AnnaMaria of AZ and Anthony Rapisardi and his wife Franca of Brooklyn; her sisters, Lucy Rapisardi of AZ, Mary Puglisi and her husband Charlie of New Jersey and Carmella DeMeo and her husband Andre of Brooklyn; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
