Josephine DeSomma, 58, a resident of Union Vale since 1986 and formerly of the Bronx, died unexpectedly on Christmas Day at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Manhattan on August 29, 1952, she was the daughter of Rosaria Brincot Zerafa of Millbrook and the late George Zerafa. Josephine was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Millbrook and was very active in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

On August 30, 1972 in Jamaica, NY, she married William DeSomma who survives at home. In addition to her husband and mother, Josephine is survived by her stepson Martin James DeSomma and his wife Gladys Cortez DeSomma; her grandchildren, Nicole, Kirsten, Amanda and Daniel DeSomma; and her sister, Doris Zerafa of Millbrook.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at St. Joseph's Church, 15 North Avenue, Millbrook followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery in Hopewell Junction.
