Josephine P. Kreider, a local area resident for thirteen years and formerly of Salem, Ohio and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, died on Sunday, December 13, 2015. She was 104 years old.
Daughter of the late Mariano and Mae Palmisano, she was born on March 19, 1911 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was very fortunate to attend the University of Pittsburgh during the depression and graduate with a Bachelor in Education in 1933. There were very few teaching positions and Josephine dedicated her career as a social worker for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
On October 1951, she married Robert Kreider at St. Paul Church in Salem, Ohio. She was predeceased by her husband in 2001 and her sisters Pauline, Anna and Rose and brother Anthony Palmisano.
Josephine enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, which included family and friend gatherings, reading, crossword puzzles, baking, sewing and gardening. She contributed to many charities and organizations.
Survivors include her niece, Joanne Quandt of Wappingers Falls; her great-nieces, Debra Zanin & her husband Ian, Ann Marie Harris & Bernie, and Stephanie Ose & her husband Gus; her great-great nieces & nephews, Devon & her husband JR, Christopher & his wife Diane, Michael, Stephanie Jean, Ryan & his wife Ashley, Deidre, Johanna, Reese, Dylan, and Brandi; her great-great-great nieces & nephews, Brianna, William, Daniel, Sadie, Finnegan, Gia, Evie, Benjamin and Xander.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, Our Lady of the Falls, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 21 at Grandview Cemetery in Salem, OH.
