Obituary

Josephine M. "Joan" Scocozza, a local resident since 1992 and formerly of the Bronx, died at home in Fishkill on Friday, January 19, 2018.

Born on October 28, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Rocco and Caterina (Russo) Marrone.

Throughout her entire life, Joan was a devout Catholic and prayed the Rosary every day. She enjoyed cooking and baking. More than anything else, she always took care of her family and cherished time spent with them.

On June 25, 1949, she married Anthony J. Scocozza at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in the Bronx. She was predeceased by Anthony in 1991.

In addition to her husband and parents, Joan was also predeceased by her son, Erminio Scocozza in 1960; her daughter, Kathleen Forbrick in 2017; as well as her siblings, Rose Vetrano, Frank Marrone, and Mary Costello.

Joan is survived by three daughters: Roseann Scoccoza of Fishkill, Cynthia Caruso & her husband Richard of Hopewell Junction, and Maureen Scoccoza of Fishkill; her grandchildren, Christopher Forbrick & his wife Christine of Florida, Anthony Forbrick & his wife Carla of Florida, Christina Caruso of Hopewell Junction, and Richard Caruso, Jr. of Hopewell Junction; her step-grandchildren, Chandler McCarthy, Christopher McCarthy, Emma McCarthy, and Alex McCarthy; her sisters-in-law, Ann Scoccoza and Connie Scoccoza; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24 at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 25 at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow at St. Raymond Cemetery in the Bronx.
