Juanita Lois Hunt, a lifelong local area resident, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at the Taconic Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Fishkill. She was 88.

Daughter of the late Clyde Elmo and Jennie (Grovatski) Lince, she was born in Newburgh on September 23, 1938 and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy. Her family later relocated to Fishkill.

Juanita owned and operated her own house cleaning company. She loved singing and walking and frequented the Fishkill Senior Center, where she enjoyed playing Bingo.

She was a dedicated Jehovah's Witness and attended the Kingdom Halls of Wappingers Falls and Beacon.

Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Mitchell & her husband Roger of New Jersey; her son, Christopher Hunt & his wife Donna of Wappingers Falls; her daughter, Evelyn Hunt of Pleasant Valley; her grandchildren, Shane Hunt & his wife Ashlee, Angelica Hunt, Teddy Diaz, Devin Diaz, and Nicholas Diaz; her great-grandchildren, Shane Jr., Austin, Wyatt, Audrianna, Dominic, and Iris; her sister, Laura Lee Bligh; her son-in-law, Gary Baynon; and many other family members.

Juanita was predeceased by her daughter, Terry Baynon; her son, Jamie Hunt & his wife Robin; her son, Daniel Hunt; her grandchildren, Christopher Hunt, Jr., Patrick Hunt, and Ariel Hunt; her brothers, Clyde Lince & his wife Vera and Gilbert Lince; as well as her former husband, Thomas Hunt, Jr.

Calling hours will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday, October 18 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A memorial tribute will begin at 4:00pm. A graveside service will take place at 1:00pm on Monday, October 19 at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org).
