The world lost an angel on Friday, March 29, 2013 when Julia Sara Gioia, 22, died at home surrounded by her family. Julia touched the lives of so many people without ever uttering a word. She spread sunshine with her eyes and love with her smile.

Born in New York City on September 18, 1990, Julia was the beloved daughter of Leo C. Gioia and Angela M. (Cioffero) Gioia. She had been an area resident for 15 years and previously lived in the Bronx.

In addition to her parents, Julia is survived by her sister, Daniella Gioia, her brothers, Jonathan Gioia and Vincent Gioia, of Newburgh; her grandmother, Marie Cioffero of New York City, her mother's fiancé, who was soon to be her stepfather, John P. Fuller; and her friend and loving caregiver, Deborah Baan-Scheck.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 3 – 7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will held at 6 pm at the funeral home officiated by Rev. Chris Boyd.
