Wasilewski
December 12, 1931 – July 7, 2025
It is with great sadness that the Wasilewski family announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Ciocia... Julia Wasilewski, formerly of Poland, Yonkers, Wappingers Falls and Fishkill who passed away peacefully at age 93 on July 7th, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, lovingly surrounded by her children.
She was born in Rudka, Poland in 1931 and survived the invasion of Poland in WWII, Hitler, Communism and in 1963 emigrated with her family to the United States. She was a long-time member of St. Casimir's Catholic Church in Yonkers, later St Joseph's in Poughkeepsie and St Denis in Hopewell Jct. She was lovingly known by all as "Babcia" (Grandmother) to all.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Jozef Wasilewski, lovingly known as "Dziadziu", and her beloved son Teddy Wasilewski.
She is survived by her son, Raymond Wasilewski (Wanda); daughters, Justine Cook (Mark) and Mary d'Arbonne (Jack); and her nephew & godson Slawek Narewski (Mary).
10 Grandchildren, Diane Cornax (Pete), Laurie Schick (Rob), Jennifer Benedetto, Cindy DiMase (Jay), Julie Marino (Anthony), Catherine Hopkins (Jeff), Steven Wasilewski, Jillian Holmes (George), Jaclynne d'Arbonne and Michael Cook.
12 Great grandchildren Isabella, Drew, Vincent, Lucas, Ella, Nathan, Luca, A.J., Keira, Caleb, Ariana, Gabriella and many other loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Babcia was a very loving, compassionate woman and lived her life for her family. She will be missed and remembered always by those that knew and loved her.
Calling hours will be Friday July 11th from 3pm until 7pm at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Jct., NY 12533,
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Denis Catholic Church on Saturday July 12th at 10am 602 Beekman Rd. Hopewell Jct., NY 12533.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lutheran Care Center- Resident Fund- 965 Dutchess Turnpike Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
