Julio Antonio Reyes, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 2006, died peacefully at his home on March 4, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay on February 28, 1935, he was the son of the late Jose and Maria (Tortora) Reyes. Julio started his career as a linotype and became 2nd chief of the national newspaper of Uruguay. He immigrated in 1973 and was employed as a house man for the Rockefeller Family at their home in Pocantico Hills.
On October 15, 1965 at Sacred Heart Church in Montevideo, Uruguay, Julio married the love of his life, Elida Vielich, who survives at home. He is also survived by his son, Julio C. Reyes and his wife Sandra; his daughter, Sandra Brophy and her husband Sean; his grandchildren, Robert Brophy, Kim Brophy, Christopher Brophy, Nicholas Brophy, Dylan Brophy, FL, Nicole Reyes and Luis Escobar; and his great-grandchildren, Anthony Orlando, Bradly Hersman, FL, Kaia Brophy, Nicko Danias, Christopher Brophy Jr., Jaxson Brophy and Hudson Escobar. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Jose Reyes.
