Obituary

EAST FISHKILL - June A. Martin, 85, a lifelong area resident, died on December 17, 2016 at her daughter's home.

Born in the Bronx on May 24, 1931, she was the daughter of Archer and Frieda Geisler Starrett. June had been employed by the Wappingers Central School District until her retirement in 1995. She also sold Avon for over 50 years, often delivering it on horseback. She was a member of the Hopewell Reformed Church and a life member of the Hillside Lake Fire Company. Lovingly know as the "Neighborhood Grandmom", she was also a 4H, Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, and drove stock cars in the Powder Puff Derby.

On May 25, 1950 in Boston, MA, June married the love of her life, Willard G. Martin. He predeceased her on February 27, 2014. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Kohlmaier and husband Heinz of Pine Plains, Ann Secor and husband Jim of Hillside Lake, and Sharon Higham of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Kelly, Brenden, Amber, Trisa and Lena; her great-grandchildren, Luke, J.C., Aiden, Ava, Cade and Riley; her sister, Barbara Armstrong; her sisters-in-law, Shirley McCaffery and Doris Martin; her extended family, Doug Ziegler, the Metzger Family and Lisa Barach; her dog, Midnight; and many nieces (with special thanks to Beth and Tanya Dykeman), nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. June was also predeceased by her son, Billy Martin; her grandsons, Jimmy Secor Jr. and Kevin Higham; and her nephews, Keith McCaffery and Chris Hargrave.

Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday at 2:30pm at the funeral home followed by interment in the family plot at Hopewell Cemetery.
