Karen
Carlin
April 7, 1968 – July 1, 2025
With a heart full of love, purpose, and sunshine, Karen (Belliveau) Brodo Carlin, 57, of Wappingers Falls, NY passed away at Westchester Medical Center on July 1st, 2025. To all that knew her, Karen was a force, she leaves behind a legacy of passion for family, work, and play.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, and raised in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Karen eventually settled with her family in the Hudson Valley area. She was a graduate of Bishop Stang High School, class of 1986, and North Adams State College, where she formed lifelong friendships and built the strong foundation that guided her throughout life.
Karen was married to William Carlin, the love of her life, and was the fiercely loving stepmother of Brianna Carlin. Karen selflessly raised and guided Brianna with a boundless heart.
She was also previously married to Wayne Brodo, with whom she shared many happy memories, including camping trips, cruises, and family celebrations. Karen had specifically wished for this chapter of her life to be acknowledged, and her family honors that with love and respect.
She was the cherished daughter of Donna Belliveau, and the late Marcel Belliveau. She was an extraordinary sister to Kim Arruda, and a proud and devoted aunt to her nephew, Chase.
Karen served as Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations Manager at M&T Bank, where she worked for nearly 20 years. The outpouring of love and respect following her passing has been an overwhelming testament to the profound impact she made. Karen was widely regarded as an innovator, a mentor, and a true leader. No words can fully describe her dedication to her work and to her team. Karen had a gift for lifting people up and helping them see their own potential.
Karen was a fabulous cook who loved creating recipes and feeding the droves, sometimes from her own kitchen or many times from the grill or the sidelines of crew races. She was recently recognized for her years of dedication to the Wappingers Crew Club, where she and Will famously ran the food tent.
Karen threw herself fully into everything she cared about, from family, to work, to every interest her daughter pursued. Her inherited storytelling abilities will be remembered by all that laughed along with her as she lit up talking about family and their (mis)adventures. She made ordinary moments feel like celebrations.
Karen found joy in the sunshine, in beach days, on her deck and during her weekly visits to the local farm. Her summers on Thompson Lake were a sacred tradition, a joyful escape that she carried from her own childhood and passed on to her family and friends with so much pride.
Though she has left this world, Karen's spark will live on in the countless lives she touched, the traditions she created, and the love she gave so freely.
A private celebration of Karen's life will be held at Thompson Lake at a later date.
