Karen Kantar's Obituary
Karen L. Kantar, 67, a resident of the Town of LaGrange, died on Monday, May 4, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Queens, New York on July 16, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Katherine (Engelhardt) Haarke. On October 18, 1969 in Izmir, Turkey she married Mete Kantar. Karen graduated Oyster Bay High School in 1965 and SUNY Oneonta in 1969.
Karen was employed as an account executive in the insurance industry for many years.
She loved spending time with family, listening to music, gardening, traveling and enjoying her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of over 45 years, Karen is survived by her children, Yasemin and her husband Andy Tiess, Erol Kantar and his wife Natalie; her 4 grandchildren, Andrew, Jonathan, Katie and Lauren; and her brother Theodore Haarke and his wife Kathleen.
Services will be private.
