Karen A. Merante, age 65, passed away on October 30, 2023 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was born in Yonkers, NY on July 9, 1958 to Ralphael and Louise (Trapasso) Merante.

Karen graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers, NY in 1976. She worked as a Unit Secretary at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, NY for 19 years and Vassar Brothers Hospital for 15 years. Karen was a kind, generous and caring soul. She was loved by all who knew her.

Karen is survived by her siblings: Richard Merante and his wife Suzanne of Jupiter, FL, Joyce Varian of Yonkers, Carl Merante (her twin brother) of the Bronx, and Donna Kocur of Poughkeepsie; her nieces and nephews: Elise Dowler (Dwight), Erica Merante, Daniel Varian (Candice), and Jennifer; her great nieces and nephews: Avery, Dylan, and D.J.

She was predeceased by her parents, brother Ralph Merante and her brother-in-law Dennis Varian.

Donations may be made in Karen's name to American Heart Association , NAMI and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
