Kate Lanni Moore, 32, a lifelong resident of Fishkill, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Poughkeepsie on September 11, 1978, she was the daughter of Richard and BJ Lanni of Fishkill. Kate was employed as a Special Education Teacher at the Vassar Road Elementary School for the last three years where she also administered the Garden Club. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Fishkill. She loved her work and she enjoyed music, long walks with her Mom, camping with family and friends and she loved her flip flops.
On September 30, 2006 at the First Reformed Church, Kate married Craig Moore who survives at home. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Charley and Maddie; her mother and father-in-law, Donald and Eileen Moore of Hopewell Junction; her grandmother, Adelaide Lanni of Peekskill; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Brian and Bianca Moore of Florida, Lindsay and B. Quirk of Millbrook, Kevin Moore and Kelly Riebeshi of Hopewell Junction; her nieces and nephews, Isabella, Victoria, Caelan, Molly and Baby Jack; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and other loving family members and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10 am at the First Reformed Church, 1153 Main Street, Fishkill with Rev. Gloria McCanna officiating. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery and finally, Kate would expect that those attending the Thursday service would be wearing their flip flops!
In lieu of flowers, the family strongly encourages donations be made to an education fund that has been established for Kate's daughters. Checks should be made payable to Craig Moore and mailed to Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, 159 Barnegat Road, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.
