Kathleen
Burke
April 1, 1936 – December 28, 2024
On December 28, 2024 Kathleen M. Burke passed away peacefully at home in the presence of family after a long period of illness. Kathleen was born on April 1, 1936 in New York City, NY to Thomas and Bridget Clarkin of County Cavan, Ireland. Kathleen grew up in New York City with her siblings Ann B. Clarkin Koenig (deceased), Mary P. Kiely (deceased), and Peter Clarkin; and she married John Francis Burke (deceased) at Our Lady of Lourdes in 1958. Kay later became a resident of Hopewell Junction, NY with her three children Catherine M. Burke, Thomas F. Burke, and James P. Burke (deceased).
Kathy was an accomplished professional, working in various hospital organizations including Saint Elizabeth's Hospital in New York City; as Coordinator of admitting and outpatient registration at Putnam Hospital Center; and boasted 18 years of dedicated service to Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie and Beacon, NY.
Kathy kept a beautiful home and garden in Hopewell Junction for over 30 years. She loved to dance and attend social events at The Knights of Columbus, The Elks Lodge, and anywhere else with a dance floor or a band. She is predeceased by her long time companion and dance partner William (Bill) Pardy Sr. of Fishkill.
Kay is remembered by her family as a strong and spirited woman. She had a great love for her family, her Catholic faith, and for life. She bravely battled breast cancer, and later received wonderful care and support from the Hudson Valley Hospice organization for which we are very grateful.
Kathleen is survived by her children Catherine Burke of Fishkill, Thomas Burke and wife Karen Burke of Milton; grandchildren Kristen Burke, Kayla Burke, Chelsea Wheeler and husband Tyler Wheeler, Jake Eadie; and four great grandchildren.
