Kathleen
Lindars
November 22, 1946 – January 4, 2026
Kathleen Stewart Lindars, 79, passed away at home in East Fishkill on Sunday, January 4, 2026.
Daughter of the late Charles Francis Stewart and Mary Ann (Kennedy) Stewart, she was born in Liverpool, United Kingdom on November 22, 1946. At the age of 20, Kathy emigrated to the United States and settled in Westchester County. Thereafter, she moved to Dutchess County where she resided for over 50 years.
As a real estate agent for Berkshire Hathaway for more than 30 years, Kathy developed lifelong friendships with clients and coworkers alike. She was a detail-oriented person with an innate sense of interior design and took great pride in decorating her own home as well as helping many of her friends, family and clients in decorating their own homes.
More than anything else, Kathy truly cherished her family, who meant everything to her. She devoted her life to her sons and grandchildren and was an active part of each of their lives. As a family, they enjoyed countless voyages aboard their boat, traveling along the Hudson River and visiting destinations such as Lake Champlain, the Long Island Sound and the Jersey Shore. She enjoyed spending summers on the boat at the Newburgh Yacht Club entertaining friends and family. Kathy loved to sing and dance and was always the life of the party. She was honest to a fault and the most loyal friend you could ever have.
On April 5, 1970, she married the love of her life Donald James Lindars in New Rochelle, New York. Don survives at home.
Additional survivors include her son, James Lindars & his partner Jill Viggiani of East Montpelier, VT; her son, Ian Lindars & his wife Emily of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Declan, Liam, and Isla Lindars; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents and three siblings: Brian Stewart, Rosemary Stewart, and Michael Stewart.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday February 6, 2026 from 12- 2 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. Flowers will be kindly accepted and appreciated.
