Kathryn was born on March 16, 1958, in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of Michael J. and Helen M. (Lane) Kelleher.

Kathryn attended Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute earning a Bachelor of Science degree, followed by a Master degree in physics from Yale University.

For 22 years, she worked for IBM in East Fishkill as an Engineer and then taught Chemistry at John Jay High School in East Fishkill.

On May 31, 1997, she married the love of her life Jim Varian Jr. who survives at home.

Kathryn was a woman of God, devoted her life to her family. She loved every minute of spending time with them and loved watching her only son James III, compete in travel sports and college baseball. She enjoyed golf, staying active and running, but her family always came first.

In addition to her Husband Jim and son James, Kathryn is survived by brother Joe and his wife Valerie Kelleher, Mother-in-Law Eleanor Varian, Sister-in-laws Donna Waaland and her husband Jeff, Kelly Dillon and her husband James. Nieces and nephews Sara, Michael and Samantha Kelleher, Brandon, Blake, Ryan and Jonathan Waaland and Keira, Brogan and Shannan Dillon. In addition, Kathryn was blessed to be Godmother to Ryan Waaland and Shannan Dillon. Kathryn is also survived by many loving cousins and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Michael J. Kelleher and father-in-law Jim Varian Sr.

Calling hours for Kathryn will be 2-4pm & 7-9pm Thursday September 1, 2022 at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc. 895 Route 82 Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday September 2, 2022 at 10am at St. Denis Church 602 Beekman Rd Hopewell Junction, NY 12533 followed by interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
