Samuel Keeler Pulling
Wappingers Falls - Keeler Pulling, 86, a long time resident of Wappingers Falls, went home to the Lord after a short illness on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Keeler was born on March 24, 1936 in Arthursburg, NY, son of the late George and Lola (Keeler) Pulling. He married Ann (Martino) Pulling on October 5, 1963 in Tuckahoe, NY. Keeler was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years and also by his brother Charles Pulling. Keeler is survived by his children, Daniel Pulling and his wife Kathleen of Milton, VT and Lynn Miller and her husband Andy of Poughkeepsie, NY; his grandchildren, Joshua Miller and his wife Brianna, Bethany Miller and Danielle Pulling, many nieces and nephews and close friends.
He was employed by IBM for 33 years, just 6 days after his high school graduation from Somerville, NJ. Starting his career as a draftsman before moving on to the model shop, he then spent the next 20 years as Site Locksmith for all 52 IBM Poughkeepsie buildings. During his early employment at IBM, he was drafted into the US Army and was proud to serve his country from 1959-1963. He enjoyed being on the IBM Poughkeepsie Rifle & Pistol Team. As a locksmith and enthusiast, he was a lifetime member of Associated Locksmiths Of America.
He was an active member of the Century Museum Village & Collectors Association and liked to demonstrate how antique engines worked during the Dutchess County Fair each summer. He loved to tell stories about his time growing up on the farm, his time serving in the Army and the 8 week trip across country with his family in 1976. Together with Ann, their house was always open for informal front porch visits to large holidays gatherings. He was a faithful and long time attendee of New Beginnings Church.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4 pm on Saturday, February 18th at New Beginnings Church, 35 DeGarmo Road, Poughkeepsie, NY. The funeral service will follow at 4 pm at New Beginnings Church. Interment will be private at Wappingers Rural Cemetery.
