Obituary

Keith Allen Broadie, 35, of Poughkeepsie, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 6, 2009.
Born in Poughkeepsie on December 2, 1973, he was the son of Ronald and Helene Broadie.
Keith was a wonderful son, uncle and brother and a great friend to many people.  His generous spirit, sense of humor and kindhearted nature won him many friends and he was impossible not to love.  Hearing his name puts a smile on the faces of those who knew him.
Keith's loyalty to friends and family and his willingness to extend a helping hand to others was only one of his gifts.  Keith lived many adventures during his life and encountered many people along the way that were blessed by him.  Some people have things given to them easily.  In Keith's case, he worked hard for everything he had and still would gladly give the last of it to a friend in need.
He was a longtime companion to Dawn Hertz of Poughkeepsie.  He was the proud father and friend to his children, Adrianna, Rosaria and Tristin.  He worked for many years as a self-employed painter for M.M. Painting with his best friend, Matt Modesto.
Keith never lost his love of "play".  He enjoyed all things outdoors, fishing, hunting, but mainly four-wheeling.  He was a great cook and often put together holiday meals for his family.  He also had a love for music.  He was a skilled carpenter and spent lots of time helping his dad build and renovate their homes.
Keith is survived by his father and stepmother, Ronald and Penny Broadie of Pleasant Valley; his mother, Helene Broadie of Wappingers Falls; his brother, Michael Broadie of Hyde Park; his sister, Christine Eckes and her companion Lance Booth of Fishkill; his beautiful children, Adrianna & Rosaria Broadie of LaGrange and Tristin Broadie of Hyde Park; his loving nieces and nephews, Jordan, Dillon & Emily Eckes of Fishkill, Elizabeth & Candace Broadie of Portage, IN, Sarah Broadie of Highland, NY; his great-niece Mackenzie Broadie of Portage, IN; and his friend and longtime companion Dawn Hertz of Poughkeepsie.  He will be missed by his faithful pit bull, Samantha.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, John and Anna Ulicky.
Please join Keith's family and friends for a memorial service at the Reach Out Church, 241 Crum Elbow Road, Hyde Park on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.  A reception will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a trust fund to benefit Keith's children.  Envelopes will be available at the service on Tuesday.
