Keith Wintenburg's Obituary
MILLBROOK – Keith V. Wintenburg, Sr., 91, a resident of Millbrook and formerly of LaGrange, died on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at home.
Born on December 12, 1919, he was the son of the late Harry and Edith Webster Wintenburg. On December 26, 1968 in Waverly, Keith married Helen J. Budnick Sadowski. Mrs. Wintenburg survives at home.
Keith retired in 1986 after sailing for 47 years as a Chief Engineer with the Exxon Marine Department out of Houston. He was a parishioner at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. Keith was a 32nd Degree Mason and had served as the Corresponding Secretary of the Eugene DeLong Chapter of Merchant Marine Veterans Association. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Waverly. Keith had a passion for reading and conversation. He was a great story teller.
In addition to his wife, Keith is also survived by his children, Keith V. Wintenburg, Jr. and his wife Linda of Spartanburg, SC, John Wintenburg and his wife Mary of Red Hook, Edith Laux and her husband Martin of Elmira, and Michael Sadowski and his wife MariLynn of Tucson, AZ; his grandchildren, Keith V. Wintenburg, III, Christopher, Scott, and Matthew Wintenburg, and Daniel and Adam Sadowski; his great-grandchildren, Thomas, Jason, Jonathan, and Christopher Wintenburg; his sisters, Joanne Davenport of Tallahassee, FL and Merlyn Wintenburg of Orlando, FL; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10am at the Fountains at Millbrook, 79 Flint Road, Millbrook. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Queens.
