Kevin C. Gower, 43, an area resident since 1989 and formerly of Beaverton, MI, died on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Born on August 19, 1966 in Lapeer, MI, he was the son of Jerald and Joyce Arbuckle Gower of Beaverton, MI. Kevin was a Senior Technical Staff Member of IBM's Server Group in Poughkeepsie, NY. Kevin had a keen intellect, had over 70 patents assigned to his name and was awarded the title of IBM Master Inventor. During his 21 year career at IBM, he received two IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement and Corporate Awards – awards given by IBM to recognize outstanding achievements involving exceptional technical skill and insight. Kevin was very well respected and liked by his colleagues within and outside IBM.
Kevin was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fishkill, NY where he served as an Elder. He received his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and enjoyed playing volleyball, woodworking and computer games. He especially loved spending time with his children. Kevin will forever be remembered for his love of life and his great sense of humor.
On September 1, 1990 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fishkill, NY, Kevin married Lisa Chase who survives at home. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his children, Matthew, Katharine and Lucas, at home; his brothers and their wives, Barry and Nikki Gower of Poughkeepsie, NY and Brian and Jan Gower of Findlay, OH; his father-in-law, Fred Chase of Midland, MI; his brothers-in-law and their wives, Fred Chase of Ojai, CA, David and Bobbi Chase of Somerville, NJ and Dan and Karen Chase of Midland, MI; his sister-in-law, Susan Mallory of Milan, MI; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1400 Route 52, Fishkill, NY with Rev. John Young officiating. Interment will follow in the LaGrangeville Cemetery.
