HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Kevin Thomas Scanlon, 48, died Monday, October 4, 2011 at home.
A resident of Hopewell Junction since 1972, Kevin owned and operated the Wiccopee General Store with his brother, Brian.
Born in the Bronx on January 14, 1963, he was the loving son of Thomas and Mary Scanlon. He attended St. Columba Church and graduated from John Jay High School in 1981. He then attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.
Kevin's quick wit and incredible natural cooking talent made him sought after by many for his culinary expertise.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Thomas and Mary Scanlon of Poughquag; his brother, Michael of Hopewell Junction, his brother Brian and his wife Kathy of Hopewell Junction, his sister and brother-in-law Maura and Robert Crane of Hopewell Junction, his sister Rose and her family of Wappingers Falls; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 12:30 pm at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment will follow at St. Denis Cemetery.
Kevin will be missed dearly by his family and his large circle of friends.
