HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Klaus E. Schubert, 88, an area resident for 5 years, passed away at the Taconic at Hopewell on December 7, 2023. He previously lived in Carmel for 32 years and Valhalla for 9 years.
Born in Germany on June 8, 1935, he was the son of the late Erich Hermann August Schubert and Lucie Emma geb Anhalt. He was employed by Circon ACMI in Stamford, CT for over 40 years until his retirement.
Klaus converted to Catholicism in 2002, and was a devoted parishioner at St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction. An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed skiing and hunting.
On September 10, 1977 at Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle, he married Maria (De Melo Soares) Schubert who survives at home after 46 years of marriage. He is also survived by the extended De Melo and Soares families.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 9 – 11 am at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at 11:30 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by burial at St. Denis Cemetery.
